Shouted Font for Web Design: A Bold Display Typeface

I was working late one night on a new landing page for a boutique online store when I stumbled upon Shouted. It had a raw, urban edge that immediately caught my eye. As a web designer, I know the right typeface can elevate a site from good to unforgettable. Shouted is a display font with a rough texture and modern style that feels like it belongs in the heart of a city. It’s not just a font—it’s a statement.

Designed for t-shirts, logos, and advertisements, Shouted has a visual personality that screams creativity. Its bold strokes and textured finish give it a unique charm that stands out against clean backgrounds or even layered over images. When I first tested it in a hero section, it felt like the perfect match for a brand aiming to make an impression with confidence and attitude.

Using Shouted in Website Headers and Hero Sections

One of the first places I used Shouted was in the header of the landing page. I paired it with a simple sans serif font for body copy—this classic font pairing strategy helps keep the design balanced while letting the display font shine. The result? A strong visual hierarchy that guided users’ eyes exactly where I wanted them to go.

On mobile screens, I made sure to test how it looked at smaller sizes. While Shouted works well as a headline, I found that reducing its size too much could affect readability. For this reason, I reserved it for larger elements like headlines, banners, and call-to-action buttons. It performed beautifully when placed over image banners, adding depth and contrast without overwhelming the content.

Another great use was in a product landing page. I used Shouted for the product title, and it instantly gave the page a sense of energy and modernity. It worked especially well for lifestyle products, such as sportswear and accessories, where the brand voice needed to be edgy and approachable at the same time.

Shouted in Landing Pages and Call-to-Action Areas

Call-to-action buttons are often small, so I was cautious about using Shouted there. However, when used sparingly, it added a punchy feel to phrases like “Shop Now” or “Join Today.” The font’s boldness made these buttons stand out against neutral backgrounds, encouraging user interaction without being distracting.

In a campaign landing page I designed, I used Shouted for the main headline and then opted for a more readable sans serif for the supporting text. This combination kept the page clean while still making a strong visual impact. Users seemed to scan the page more quickly, which I believe was helped by the clear distinction between decorative and functional typography.

I also experimented with using Shouted in blog headers. It worked particularly well for posts about street art, urban culture, or fashion. The font’s texture and character aligned perfectly with the themes, creating a cohesive brand identity across different sections of the site.

Considerations for Using Shouted on Websites

While Shouted is a powerful display font, it’s not suitable for every part of a website. I found that it didn’t perform well with long paragraphs or dense blocks of text. Its stylized form makes it less ideal for body copy, navigation menus, or form labels where clarity and legibility are key.

For accessibility, I ensured that the color contrast was sufficient when using Shouted on dark or light backgrounds. It’s important to remember that decorative fonts can sometimes reduce readability, especially for users with visual impairments. Always test your designs across devices and screen sizes to ensure they remain accessible and usable.

Before implementing Shouted on any client project or personal website, I checked the available styles, weights, and file formats. It’s crucial to confirm that the font supports all necessary characters and languages, especially if the site will be used globally. Also, verifying commercial font licensing ensures that the font can be used legally in digital projects, print materials, or downloadable assets.

Overall, Shouted is a versatile and expressive typeface that brings a fresh, urban vibe to any web design. Whether you're building a portfolio site, a product landing page, or a creative brand kit, this font can add a layer of personality that sets your design apart. Just remember to use it wisely, and always pair it with fonts that complement its bold nature for the best results.
