Girls from the Forest: A Modern Typeface for Handmade Creations

I was designing a set of candle labels one afternoon, trying to find the perfect font that would feel both rustic and refined. I had just downloaded Girls from the Forest, and as soon as I typed out “Handcrafted Soy Candles” in this display font, I knew I had found something special. The curves were soft yet confident, the lines clean but with a touch of whimsy. It wasn’t just a font—it felt like a character, ready to bring my handmade products to life.

Girls from the Forest is a modern and sharp-looking display font that has quickly become a favorite in my creative toolkit. With its elegant curves and balanced structure, it feels both approachable and sophisticated. Whether I’m working on greeting cards, wedding invitations, or seasonal packaging, this typeface adds a unique visual personality that elevates every design.

Bringing Labels and Packaging to Life

I started by using Girls from the Forest on my candle labels. I wanted them to feel inviting and natural, so I paired the font with a muted green background and hand-drawn illustrations of forest elements. The result was a label that didn’t just tell customers what was inside—it made them want to reach out and touch it.

The same font worked beautifully on boutique tags for my handmade jewelry collection. I used a simple white cardstock with a light wood grain texture and let the font do most of the talking. The balance between the boldness of the typeface and the subtlety of the background gave the pieces a polished, professional look that matched the quality of the items themselves.

Creating Invitations and Stationery

When I designed a set of birthday invitations, I knew Girls from the Forest would be the perfect choice. I used it for the main title, “Celebrate Her Day,” and then switched to a clean sans serif font for the details like date and time. This contrast helped keep the invitation readable while still feeling special and personalized.

I also tested the font on a wedding invitation mockup. I loved how it added a sense of charm without being too ornate. For the RSVP section, I used a simpler script font to create a nice flow between the two styles. The combination felt cohesive and elevated the overall design.

Designing Digital Printables and Wall Art

One of my favorite uses for Girls from the Forest has been in digital printables. I created a set of printable wall art featuring forest-themed quotes, and the font brought each piece to life. The characters seemed to dance across the page, making the designs feel more dynamic and engaging.

For planner pages, I used the font for headings and titles. Its readability on smaller sizes made it ideal for organizing notes and schedules. I found that even when printed on cardstock or included in digital templates, the font remained clear and legible—no squinting needed.

Font Pairing and Styling Tips

When pairing Girls from the Forest with other fonts, I’ve found that a clean sans serif font works well for body text, especially for longer phrases or descriptions. It creates a nice balance between decorative and functional typography.

If you’re working on something more decorative, like a sign or a sticker sheet, try combining it with a simple serif or handwritten font for a layered effect. Just be careful not to overdo it—less is often more when it comes to font pairings.

I always check the font’s included styles, alternates, and ligatures before finalizing any design. Having access to different weights and swashes can make all the difference in how the font looks on various materials, from stickers to mugs.

Readability and Practical Use

One thing I appreciate about Girls from the Forest is how well it performs on small formats. I’ve used it for tiny stickers, product tags, and even social media graphics, and it always looks crisp and clear. When designing for cutting machines like Cricut or Silhouette, I make sure to test the font at different sizes to ensure it cuts cleanly without any issues.

For physical merchandise, I recommend checking the commercial licensing terms before selling any products that include the font. Understanding the font’s multilingual support and file formats is also important, especially if you plan to use it for international projects or digital downloads.

Girls from the Forest has become an essential part of my creative process. Whether I’m working on a simple label or a complex invitation suite, this display font brings a sense of charm and professionalism to every project. It’s more than just a typeface—it’s a tool that helps me connect with my audience in a meaningful way.
